Reiki is a
technique that
accelerates
the body's
ability to
heal physical

modified to

Reiki person

focus, and
direct
energies into

taught Reiki

Brief
History
Its name is
derived from
the Japanese
word "Reiki",
which can be
translated to
"Universal
Life Energy".
This "energy"
is not
mysterious or
mystical at
all. It is
simply the
energy which
is all around
us and is
often
described as
the unseen
force that
makes living
thing - alive.
Modern day
Reiki was born
out of the
experience of
Dr. Mikao Usui,
a Japanese
Christian
educator who,
in the late
1800's,
responded to
the challenges
of some of his
students as to
why the people
of the day
could not do
the great
healing
phenomena that
the great
spiritual
leaders
(Buddha,
Krishna,
Jesus) of the
past
performed.
The ancient
healing system
of Reiki,
based on
ancient
Sanskrit
writings, was
uncovered to
him after
extensive
travel and
study. Today,
the Usui
System of
Reiki, as it
is called,
continues to
be taught by
Reiki Masters
who are
trained in the
original
traditions of
Reiki.

What is the
difference
between Reiki
1, 2 and 3?
Reiki 1
In a Reiki 1
class, the
students are
taught the
history,
origins and
philosophy of
Reiki. They
are then
attuned to
tapping into
the Reiki
energy and how
it is
suggested that
they use Reiki
in their own
lives and in
service to
others. They
are taught the
basic hand
positions of
Reiki which
are used in
Reiki
treatments.
Class time is
set aside to
have each
student
practice the
hand positions
under
supervision of
the Reiki
Master. The
students will
also learn the
hand positions
for
self-treatments
and have the
opportunity to
administer and
experience a
full-body
self-treatment.
The
attunements
occur in our
(4) ceremonial
acts shared by
the Reiki
Master with
each student.
Reiki 1 is the
starting point
for those
interested in
pursuing Reiki
further and
for those
interested in
self
treatments or
treating one's
own family and
close friends.
Prerequisites:
openness,
sincere desire
to learn the
art for the
betterment of
all.
Reiki 2
A Reiki 2
class is the
next step a
person would
take after
completing
Reiki 1.
Typically, a
minimum of 6
months between
classes is
recommended,
with
exceptions
being
addressed on
an individual
basis.
Advanced
techniques are
taught for
sending the
Reiki energy
at a distance
and for
furthering the
mental,
spiritual, and
emotional
healing
processes of
individuals
Reiki 2 is
typically
taken by those
who wish to
continue to
learn more
about this
healing
technique and
use it to help
others in the
community,
often as a
business.
Reiki
3-Master Level
The Master
classes are
designed for
those that
want to teach
Reiki to
others.
Instruction is
given on the
Usui system of
attunements as
well as the
Tibetan system
and several
variations.
Over half of
the class time
is used for
practice so
the student
becomes
confident in
administering
Reiki
attunements.
Students
practice
giving
attunements on
each other so
that each
student
receives many
attunements.
The Healing
attunement is
given and
received by
all students,
which makes
the class a
powerful
healing
experience. A
class manual
is included
that shows
detailed steps
for giving the
attunements.
While the
content of the
class will
allow anyone
to pass the
ability to do
Reiki on to
others and to
teach if one
chooses, many
take the class
for their own
use or to use
with family
and friends.
