This class will focus on
teaching survival tools and
techniques that go above and
beyond those needed to
simply "survive" in the
wilderness. We will
continue to focus on the 4
main areas of survival -
Shelter - Fire - Water -
Food, but we will be
exploring more advanced ways
to obtain them,
For example during the
"Fire" section we will be
learning tricks to get
faster Bow Drill and Hand
Drill fires then go on to
other primitive fire making
methods such as the Fire
Piston, Fire Saw and Fire
Plow.
When discussing "Traps" we
will explore how to make
"Platform Traps; Ojibwa Bird
traps and Fish Traps among
others.
Navigation will consist of
learning about how to
effectively use GPS and how
to relate it to topographic
maps
Shelter will focus not only
on advanced types of
shelters but you will also
be sleeping under different
configurations of "tarp
shelters" every night.
Some of the other topics for
the week will be Man and
Animal Tracking, basic Flint
knapping, net making and
simple basketry. You
are encouraged to bring
your "Bug-Out Bag" or any
Survival Kits you may have
to share and swap ideas
around the nightly campfire,
