This class will focus on teaching survival tools and techniques that go above and beyond those needed to simply "survive" in the wilderness.  We will continue to focus on the 4 main areas of survival - Shelter - Fire - Water - Food, but we will be exploring more advanced ways to obtain them,

For example during the "Fire" section we will be learning tricks to get faster Bow Drill and Hand Drill fires then go on to other primitive fire making methods such as the Fire Piston, Fire Saw and Fire Plow.

When discussing "Traps" we will explore how to make "Platform Traps; Ojibwa Bird traps and Fish Traps among others.

Navigation will consist of learning about how to effectively use GPS and how to relate it to topographic maps

Shelter will focus not only on advanced types of shelters but you will also be sleeping under different configurations of "tarp shelters" every night.

Some of the other topics for the week will be Man and Animal Tracking, basic Flint knapping, net making and simple basketry.  You are encouraged to bring your "Bug-Out Bag" or any Survival Kits you may have to share and swap ideas around the nightly campfire,
